One of the more important software packages in my house has now been updated.

Grab the latest version of Tux Paint for your kids too!

It turns out you can import into iPhoto ‘remotely’.
For example, if you have two Macs you can hook the camera up to one and import into iTunes on the other. Start here for details.

The ability has always been there, I’d just never thought of it that way before.

OK, now that Thanksgiving is past – we are all set for the second Monday of the month.

So, (drum roll please) our next meeting is Monday, November 13th at Macs-At-Work.

Sharon Donald will give us a demo of using Excel for your finances, by presenting the club finances to the group.

Please remember to think about ways you’d like us to spend our membership fees for the next couple of weeks and bring your ideas to the meeting.

First off, several times last night I told people to email me – but I don’t think I mentioned my email address :-)

If you would like copies of the Breen’s Bungalow episodes, or want to get started on your own website and/or photo gallery, just drop me a line at webmaster@muskokamug.org.

An additional benefit to members I didn’t mention is custom email addresses. If you would like fred@muskokamug.org just ask, and I’ll set it up, and have it forward to whatever your current ‘real’ email address is. I know lots of you have ugly email addresses handed out to you by your ISP. A whatever@muskokamug.org style address would be lots easier for friends and family to remember.

Bruce Schneier is a very famous voice on security – both relating to computers, and more and more lately to ‘real world’ security issues too.

His commentary is usually a breath of fresh air and common sense. Take a look at www.schneier.com to get a feel for who he is and what he does. Here’s an example commentary Who Owns Your Computer?

Try subscribing to his newsletter for great monthly tidbits.

Hi Everybody
Time to think about security updates! There have been a number of important updates in the last month or so.

Firefox, Microsoft Office 2004 and v.X both, and Tiger have all had significant changes, iTunes was updated too!

Please make sure you have the latest versions of all this stuff. Software Update won’t check Firefox and Microsoft Office for you.

Let me count the ways…. or the hour of twiddling this little combo saved me.

For mucking about with plain text files it sure is powerful…

Who’s got a newer iPod?
This explains how to make any movie the charging screen saver
But it doesn’t work on my old iPod mini. :-( Maybe somebody else in the group can get it to work.
